Re-Setting a Member's Username & Password

Re-Setting a Member's Username & Password

There will be times when a member of your websites has either lost their password, or is having difficulty logging in. Generally speaking we recommend just re-setting their log in information and inviting them to re-register for your association's website. This may be a mild inconvenience, but for security purposes, this is much safer than simply emailing the member their password. To do so please follow the steps below:

** You must be logged into an account with administrative privileges in order to complete these actions. 

**NOTE: please make sure your member is not trying to use passwords with ampersands (&) in them. This character is often used in the coding of DDS attacks. Our system may perceive this as a threat and restrict access to the website as a result. 

  1. Click on the Welcome Drop Down Menu located just above the menu bar, off to the right
  2. Click on the line item labeled "Membership"
  3. Once the new page loads, click on the sub-tab, "Manage Members."
    1. You can search for members int he quick find tool bar. Please allow the page to finish loading before doing this, or it may give you difficulty.
  4. Click on the Edit Pencil next to the member you are trying to re-set
    1. This will bring you to the "Related Members" page. You will have to click the Edit Pencil one more time to select which member of that account you would like to edit. 

Once you are in the correct Member account:
  1. Click on the sub-tab labeled "Personal/Web Info"
  2. Click on the link labeled "Delete User Account."This will simply delete their log-in information. This will not remove the entire account from the website. 
  3. A pop-up box will appear asking if you are sure you want to delete the user account. Click OK.

The page will blink and put you back on the Main Information tab. Note the primary email address on this tab. Make sure it is correct. 
  1. Click on the "Personal/Web Info" sub-tab once again.
  2. Click the button "Send Create Account Invite Email" This will send an email to their primary email address with information and links on how to register for the website.
